Scratch Coat

ScratchBond 8200 is a Portland-cement-based scratchcoat mortar for use with metal lath on plywood subfloors and countertops prior to setting ceramic tile and stone. Use it with metal lath fastened to exterior-grade plywood to create a “semi-floating” underlayment system, reducing the potential for in-plane cracking of installed ceramic or stone.

• An economical, dense, single-component, Portland cement-based bonding mortar
• Use with wire mesh to create a "semi-floating underlayment" system
• Mix with water only
